I have the JVC Adixxxion cam and I have decided I no longer like it. I did for awhile but I am finding it is not quite what I want.
It is convenient and easy to use but the quality it just not great.

Yesterday I flew in low light (evening until well past dark) and everything is just blurry. I see the GoPro videos here and they are much more crisp.

Question 1: how does the GoPro perform in low light like evening flying and what about very low light like night in the cockpit?

My current cam just cannot focus on the instruments, moon, outside lights, It is bad.

Question 2: What am I missing in these links. These prices are seemingly unbelievable to say the least. Are these older versions? I am not up to date on what version is what. I prefer one that has mic input versus an ambient mic.

Murphey had one for sale recently. You might ping her to see if she still has it.

Unless they changed the optics on the 3, my 2 is not very good in low light conditions. It's better than my Cannon HD. Have you looked at the Garmin VIRB?

1. My GoPro cameras have done better than other cameras I've tried using in low light situations, but looks slightly more grainy than if there's plenty of light available. (If you want more info or have some specific requests for video samples let me know and I'll see if I can get you what you need.)

2. I have no idea what's up with those prices. The first one looks like it could almost be someone selling their "Win everything we make" daily giveaway (http://gopro.com/daily-giveaway). Both appear to be great deals, provided the cameras actually work and the lenses aren't scratched/damaged.

And as for prices, yes really cheap. Hope they were not stolen.

I am using a GoPro Hero3 Silver and really like it. I use Windows Live MovieMaker for editing since it is free and easy to use.

It takes a second or two to adjust from inside to outside focus and low to high light conditions but nothing bad. I have videos here you can find including one I took yesterday flying the San Diego Coastal Route which had varying light conditions - it is in the Pilot Training sub-forum.

New the Hero3 Silver was about $300 as I recall, I'd be worried about stolen or inop equipment if the price is too low.

I have the GP pro 3 hero, like it very much, will probably really like it when I understand it.

Gone, sorry.

Rumors have the new GoPro Hero4 out next spring and the Hero 3+ will go down in price. Both the current Silver & Black have external mic inputs, IIRC. You can download the manual on the gopro site and look at the specs.

If you're a member of REI, pick one up there and get the rebate next year. Otherwise, the skydivers really like the latest & greatest, so you could find a used one there.

Wish I had taken advantage of the GoPro IPO offered to owners. Altho you could buy at $24 or so, if you came in anytime after, not that great an opportunity. But many of the analysts are still very bullish on it.
