What do you do about idiots like this?

Some one with a log on, should ask the DumbA$$ where he would like the EMTs to drag his butt when he needs a madivac. and who allowed a school to be built under the ILS. they need a boot in the a$$ to jar their head loose.

("Also something else has come to our attention from a pilot from out of state. He was wondering why in the heck is there a sewer plant near an airport? He is saying that the methane gas emitted from such a plant and floating around an airport can stall an aircraft engine. This is something that should be studied. ")

Guess I should stop FARTING at the airport... Don't want to kill anybody...

And I wonder how the cars are getting to the airport without "CONKING" out...

I read the results of the study. He's lying and just cut and pasting the parts he likes. There were 5 options the one that was the cheapest and made the most sense financially for the city was to take the FAA funds and update the airport. The airport operates in the black without FAA or taxpayer funds. IIRC there was still $70,000 in the bank after all the bills were paid last year.

Now that's just funny!

Please do stop farting at the airport, I did have a CFI nearly kill us with with one, we were in the air in a Cessna 150.

Open the window Mr. Gribble...:D

Sounds like you need a pro airport PR campain.

Should of used a Piper Cub with out the window.

We have the same issues at XFL. Some people that moved next to the airport are now complaining about the noise. The airport was built in the early 1940s as a military airport and the surrounding city didn't even exist until the 70's. The area the people are complaining about has only been built up for about 5-10 years. People need to do some research before buying a home.

True, although I met one yahoo in NJ that knew Solberg Airport was near his house upon purchase and was on the "anti-airport" team so his property value would increase when the airport was closed. He was just in it for the potential profit.

That sounds like an airport that desperately needs a good, ol' fashioned, pancake fly-in. And make sure to invite the neighbors.

Seriously.

Most NIMBYs ("not in my back yard") bought their homes near airports many years after the airports were established. This bozo sounds like many of them.

In Hillsboro, OR there was an activist a few years ago trying to shut down the annual airshow after he bought a lot within 300 feet of the airport.

I learned to fly at a little airport in Oregon that had been there 50 years, but had an elementary school move in, and they put the playground about 100' to one side of the runway. When parent-teacher conferences were going on in the evening, and cars parked along the road just off the approach end of 02, it was hard to put it on the numbers without thumping the roof of some SUV with the main gear. That close!

Jack Lenhardt, the guy who owned the airport, never let it get confrontational. He had an annual barbecue for the neighbors, and made it clear to all the CFIs instructing students who rented his two Champs that, on that day each year, they were expected to be on hand for free rides. He also put up a small steel building to house his vintage aircraft, called it the "Lenhardt Interpretive Center," and offered tours to school classes integrated with their science curriculum.

It obviously worked. If anything suspicious happened on the field, 911 would get multiple calls from the neighbors.

Jack's gone now, but lots of airport operators could benefit from his example.

"Planes are dropping and crashing out of the sky all over this country around airports like this one." Uhhhh, really? And the part about sewer gas causing airplane engines to "stall"? It would be hysterical if the guy wasn't (apparently) serious. Having flown above the local sewer plant on several occasions, I had no idea how I was putting myself at risk. :mad2:

If local leaders are actually listening to this nonsense, sounds like it's time for a pilot to run for local political office. And some PR efforts would certainly seem worthwhile...pancake breakfasts, Young Eagle flights, airport day, that sort of thing.

Unfortunately, there are idiots in every village...

Years and years ago (circa 1990), a pilot flew a 182 at high rpm low over the area around an airport that was having noise issues. Turns out the pilot had bought a house near the airport and was looking to get the airport closed in order to increase the property value of his house.

I never did find out what happened to him...but I confess I had some unchristian thoughts regarding the matter.

They've set an semi-unofficial deadline for April to make their decision. That would need to happen fast.

OMG and I thought that I had come up with everything that can go wrong in my rental 150 next month. Didn't think of that one. I'll brief the passenger.

It's not in the TCDS for you to have this placarded on the plane?

It is a rental so I can't put up stickers, and since it has no back seats, I couldn't stick it on the back of the seat or else only our luggage would see it. And luggage doesn't fart.

You can't? Live on the effing wild side for once. Exercise your PIC authority or whatevah. sheesh

True story...in one yr there were over 4,000 complaints received about KSBP. It was found out that every of those complaints originated from 4 persons who all lived in the same housing tract. Shortly following, the state of California ruled the identity of any complaintants shall not be revealed.

KSBP has been in existence since 1919 (regardless of what Google says). Chas. Lindbergh even landed there during his heyday. The airport pre-dated the Union oil tank fire of 1927.

I helped build the housing tract which later became the source of so many complaints of the airport. Real estate agents have an over 400 item list of disclosures of which they routinely submit to 20 or less. One of those disclosures is proximity to an airport. The state of CA has ruled that RE agents need not comply with all items on said list of disclosure. Further, the state judiciary has ruled that any occupant of a residence or place of business has equal benefit as to the 'deficient' portion of that property.

That is to say, a resident who occupies a dwelling in close proximity to an airport may not be informed of such convenience and also hold an equal legal standing as the airport which may have predated said residence by any number of years.

Disclaimer: these facts may have changed since 2007, the year I last paid attention to such matters. It turns my stomach. I would think a sellers or buyers RE agent who failed to disclose would be subject to civil suit. Evidently the state of CA disagrees in this opinion.

I think about this every time I turn base or cross-wind and go right over all the new McMansions.

Pop quiz: does or does not "for the purpose of landing..." hold significance?

I submit it does not when in contention with the other state's laws and/or regulations. I have heard pilots blasting around the patt at props fine pitch and high RPMs. Be ware of your sig-na-ture.

KOAK RWY 33, as example, ( a GA rwy) is very sensitive to noise. That is to say, pull back the props in a hurry lest the ground-based noise monitors gnerate an automatic ticket to you N number.

The sneaking suspicions is that this nut is a group of "one" though he claims to represent "hundreds" only one person has ever been identified as "in the group". According to him, his risking life and limb by letting his name be known and all the other alleged members don't want to be identified due to "security concerns" for their well being and retaliation from the rouge pilots... seriously. Most of the people I've heard from that live near the airport either like watching the planes, fly the planes or are not bothered by them.

What concerns me more is that the city council is actually taking him serious. And the local news outlets are putting his blatant lies and rants out there unchecked.

We have a sign at the end of each rwy that posts the noise abatement procedures. Something like "no turns below 1600msl." That works out to no turns below 500agl for that airport and TPA is 1000agl. But, yeah, the big houses are going up right where the corners of the pattern are.

I do know the 2 FBOs get letters and phone calls about noise, and they usually put notices on their bulletin boards or on their counters. I've also been told that a very high percentage of the complaints are from the same people.

Best thing I ever saw was when KAPA put in a noise complaint line. It went to an answering machine.

Local pilot's group and attorneys requested the recording transcripts under FOIA, then filed defective property notices against the complainer's houses.

Colorado's a required-disclosure state for real-estate.

It got stopped when the County judge got tired of hearing the cases in his courtroom and ordered the complaint line disconnected.

[snip]

heck, at KBED some of the NIMBY goons call in noise complaints when 707 airframes have been scheduled to arrive or depart.
