As I am hopefully nearing the end of my avionics installation, I need to make a decision on the 530W coming out of the Conquest. It's several years old, I am not sure of the exact age, but it's in good shape with a little wear on the com transfer button, but functions flawlessly.
I also have a 2 year old 430W in my 182 that has maybe 75 hours on it, so it is pretty much like new.
I can sell the 530W and be done with it or install it in the 182 for a minimal amount, or so I'm told. :dunno:
So, what are they worth? I am thinking the 530W should be around $9-10K and the 430W $65-7500. Does that sound about right? On Ebay they are higher, but seem to be fixed prices vs auctions.
The shop wants to trade one of them in, but I think I would rather sell outright and negoiate with the shop on a cash basis. ;)

Any other screens in the 182? If not, I would install the 530 there.

Sell them both and put a 750 in the 182. You can easily get $6,700 for the 430w with all mounting and install parts. I don't have personal price experience with the 530w.

Are you selling just the unit or unit and indicator?

Just the units, the indicator for the 530 was the HSI that I removed and the 430 has a new indicator that will stay in the 182.:D

Actually I like this idea more. I paid $8250 for my 530w after some haggling and that was a pretty good deal. I think 9k is a fair price.

Thanks, I looked at selling both and putting a 650 in the 182, but I hadn't considered a 750.:D I'm trying get end up with more money, not less.:rofl:

That's sort of the way I'm leaning. The shop wants me to trade one or both in, but I'd rather not do that, I think the are trying to juggle figures for next week.

Just tell them they have to trade on the same terms that you do at the dealership, and that you always allow full retail. If you need help I'll come over and swear to it.

I have seen 430W units go for $6,500 to $7,500 retail and the 530Ws for around $9k. This is one of those wholesale versus retail conversations. My suggestion is to offer it (whatever "it" is) to the forum and see what will be offered. A 750 will go for around $14k - $15k installed and a 650 for around $11k. An avionics shop will have already made good money off of you...

Just make sure they provide the racks when they give them back to you.

Put your 430W up for sale on some of the experimental forums, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the price it will bring. I've got a used 430W in my experimental panel now, I got mine that way.

I think you're in the right ballpark, provided the price is for a full "kit" with the antenna, tray and connectors. I sold a very nice 430W kit for $6500 just to sell it quickly, but probably could've gotten $7000 if I waited a little longer or put it on barnstormers. 530W are much less common and should fetch $8500-9000 on a private party transaction IMO.
