Incredible weather in the upper Midwest today. I think everyone who could go up, was up this afternoon. Radio was constantly crackling.

Flip Side:
Several crashes today, for a variety of reasons.
1 Dead in Ohio, a 25 yr-old pilot.

This one, from Georgia today, is pretty much self-explanatory: upload_2017-2-19_21-8-10.png

I knew about the one in GA, but not all of the others. Rough day for sure.

From the news article, the guy had just bought the Ercoupe...

Kathyrn's report said it was an engine failure. That picture is what a successful road landing looks like in North Georgia, that is, no one was killed. The roads are curvy and for the most part lined with trees and powerlines. Sorry about the airplane, but there are other old Ercoupes to be had. The pilot lives to fly another day, and that's what counts.

Man, that one in Bayonne could have been really bad if the gas had caught fire....

(not that I am speculating anything....)

First nice day. Rusty pilots go flying. Its like motorcycle riders who only ride to the bar on warm days going out for their first ride of spring and t-boning a car because they forget where the brakes are.

That one really surprises me that it's only 2 injured, the cabin area looks "compromised".
