What’s in your hangar toolbox

Personally, I like having a cordless screwdriver, too.

I recently picked up a Milwaukee M12 hex driver. Best tool I have ever used. Perfect balance of power and control, with a very good clutch to prevent over torquing.

One thing I learned long ago was the importance of a good Philipps screwdriver. I am sure there are other great screwdrivers but I think snap on screwdrivers are the best from my experience. And you want a long shank screwdriver, it gives you more leverage and I use the long shank as a speed driver as I can spin the shank faster than I can the handle once the screw is broke lose. You get really good with one after some practice.

That said I did buy a dewalt cordless screw driver last year. I like it for speed but it does not have near the leverage as my hand held long shank screwdriver.
The cordless is great for inspection covers things that are not super tight or frozen in from many years.

I have been thinking about another one for at home and it will be a Milwaukee since I have been switching over to Milwaukee.

I use that red long shank Phillips on everything I can. It is the best screwdriver that I have in my hangar.

Can I say I love the framed Sporty's 172 cockpit poster. This is the view of the guest chairs from my office desk, and probably my third one of these that I've hung from one wall or another over the last 40 years.

The Bendix/King radios were state of the art at the beginning. Now they are retro and quaint. I think the first one I hung may have had LORAN. This version now on my wall compares to a modern panel like the '75 M model I learned to fly in compares to that Bendix/King suite.
