Hi POA Board,

I am just curious on some things about your web board.

Not looking to start a web board or anything, just wondering.

Is the POA web board written in Visual Basic?

Do you buy a software program for this kind of web board?

It would seem that to build a web board of this size would be better purchased than written from scratch.

Does it run automatically? In other words do you have to change programming code to correct glitches and such?

Is there "generic" reading on this kind of web board that I could look at?

Thanks and I think you do a Great Job!

Terry :)

it's written in PHP, a LAMP stack would probably be a good guess of the server architecture it's running.

It runs software called vBulletin https://www.vbulletin.com/ ( I personally don't care for the company that sells vBulleting) a good free similar software is PHPBB http://www.phpbb.com/ I'd guess tweaks to the core code would be best left up to the maintainers, since custom hacks make upgrades unbearable. But since it's PHP, the folks who run the site have probably made some tweaks here and there.

I have heard from the folks who do the tech admin that the vBulletin can be a pain, but it is surely a common product, and that helps wi stability (one hopes).

Jesse and Jason do all the tech work, and I know that the stuff they do is not trivial; the quality of their efforts shows, in that PoA is without a doubt the most rock-solid reliable web board I have ever participated on.
