I saw in the latest issue of IFR magazine that Dr. Paul Earley created a neat little tool that reads the MOS output from the NWS and generates plane-English (pun intended) extended forecasts for your area. It's available for free. Check it out:

Here's a couple screen shots I just took:

Neat tool, not enough reportin g stations for me....

Very interesting, nice format and presentation. I will definetely share with my wife, who often wants to check weather when I'm out of town and gets frustrated by what she calls the "secret club membership" required to read TAFs.

However, I'm concerned about the accuracy. I ran ADDS TAFs alongside output from this program and they do not match exactly. Some sort of interpolation must be going on to produce output like "23% chance of rain." Also, the forecast period seems to extend beyond the 24 hours normally covered in TAFs. Does this tap another database?

Finally, I agree, more stations would be useful. Anyway, terrific effort and thanks very much.
