So sorry. I knew him, too, by the way, although not very well. He was a friend of one of my old CFIs when I flew out of DXR. Brilliant guy.
 
He's missed by all the cheap bastards on the Mooney list (many of us used his products in the early days of cockpit weather) as well.
 
Thanks for your kind remarks. Hubby is rather deeply affected by this - nightmares. He had the last leg of our flight home on Saturday and found out how shaken he is because he was fixating on the oil pressure gauge, strange noises in the aircraft, and looking for emergency landing sites the entire distance. He has scheduled flights with his CFIs tomorrow.

He is trying to find and read everything he can find about the crash.

Uggh, sounds like he did everything right and just got a bad place to land. So close to the airport, too... #4 spark plug oil soaked, filter and screen full of metal. Not a good hand to be dealt.
