Waukegan (IL) Air Show Canceled

I heard on the radio this morning that they've decided to cancel the Waukegan (UGN) Air Show this year because of lack of funds. They had commitments for the full $80K it would take to put the show on, but about $12K of it wasn't in hand yet.

Due to airport construction, high fuel prices and limited funding, the 2008 Airshow has been cancelled (sic). Plans are already being made for next year so, we’ll see you in 2009 and we’ll be bigger and better than ever!

How many air shows are going to be canceled next year for similar reasons?

I am seeing some of the small grass routes flyins etc not being attended as much as they use to be. Definately could be a trend.
