So I am looking to buy a plane as i am forming a partnership. While fiancée is shopping and I am sitting in the "husband chair" waiting, I notice an arrow III for sale-19k. I figure its a typo, or the engine is gone. Send an email. Get a response from the UK it's on leaseback in the states and there was a default. Check around and there are advertising 3 other planes for same amount. Spoke to my partner and we agree its a scam. I forward the email to him. He writes them, they write back claiming there is nothing wrong and if we forward the bank info, they will deliver. Straight out of Craigslist scam. Should I notify Global Plane Search or is this a waste of time? Just be careful.

I don't know anything about Global Plane, but just curious, what type of an aircraft are you looking to buy?

Preferably a Cherokee 235 or similar; possibly Cherokee 6 or an Arrow. We want about 1,000+ useful load, 430, autopilot, goes 135+ knots. Wider cockpit. Know of any for sale?

Notify GPS so they can investigate and deal with it. You will be providing a service to other potential scam victims.

I thought GPS just aggregated airplanes for sale from other sources....

I just put my Mooney 201 up for sale and it's at KRZL in indiana. I know it's no Cherokee 6 but it's comparable to an Arrow. Take a look at www.excelairservices.com if interested. I know for sure it's not a scam. :wink2:

I actually did see it. One of my partners is a big guy as am I. Don't think we would comfortably fit in a Mooney.

The same "Roni Campbell" advertised 4 planes on Barnstormers and got caught as a scammer

http://www.barnstormers.com/listing.php?mode=usersearch&user=142378

They have planes advertised all over... I did like the $19,000 Lance

http://www.globalplanesearch.com/listing/aircraft-for-sale/Piper-PA-32RT-300/48436

And if you'd rather have a yacht, they will be happy to sell you that also:

Or an old car

http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...c.co.uk/car/C417995+&cd=8&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Or a motorcycle

http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...re-knuckle-8109.asp+&cd=9&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

P.S. If you are still interested in that arrow, here is the real ad:

http://www.controller.com/listingsd...ER-ARROW-III/1978-PIPER-ARROW-III/1284817.htm

$89K

It looks like what is going on here is this scammer is just taking pre-existing ads and repricing them... I also found the same with both the motorcycle and classic car. Even more interesting... is the root ad's with realistic pricing also track back to the same guy "jay" at ironmart.

Cherokee 235/Arrow do not have a "wider cockpit." They're just like all the other Cherokees. Not bad planes otherwise, tho.

GlobalPlaneSearch has nothing to do with it, because:

Yup. They're just linking to other planes-for-sale sites.

If you can fit in an Arrow, you can fit in a Mooney. The cabin on the Mooney is actually slightly wider than the Cherokee (Arrow/235/whatever) cabin.

I'm 6'4" and 300#, and I've found the Mooney to be one of the most comfortable single-engine planes there is. Don't knock it until you've actually sat in one.
