Wanted: Met-Co-Air Wingtips for C172

Just on the off-chance that someone has a set, I would be interested in purchasing them.

Long story short, I bought Whelen strobes as recommended by Whelen and found out later that there is no practical way to mount them to my circa 1971 wingtips.

Whelen has said they would take my strobes back in exchange, but I'll need to replace my perfectly functional and painted-to-match tips with something new and I know the Metco's will accept the PR and PG strobes. Anyone have a set they'd like to unload?

You'll need the STC from Metco, and they are not cooperative in even selling them.

Could/would? the STC just go along with the wingtips? Piece of paper for the logs?

A long time ago, yes. But starting about about 20 years ago STCs are issued to a certain serial number only.

Not only that, but other US law (not FAA)requires that you have a permission letter from the STC holder to use the STC.
