So I am looking at what would be a wise collection of things to have with me, and backup communications seems like one of them. Here is one I am looking at:

However before I drop $200 bucks on something I hope I never use, does anyone have something less shinny in a drawer somewhere, that they would part with for less, to cover my "I feel better with a backup com" needs?

I have an Icom A5 and Yaesu VXA 150... The ICOM has a much better receiver , so that stays in my bag and the Yaesu stays in the ham shack as a dedicated scanner hooked up to a dedicated vhf antenna cut for the air band. ( and the receiver still sucks)

I can not speak for that particular model , but other reports from guys with vertex air radios i know also say they suck.

Plenty of options to choose from here.

I've got one of these

http://www.com-spec.com/tr720.htm

All I've got with it are:

 • CS-15 Twist off 450ma. Nicad battery
 • CS-30 Flex antenna
 • CS-40 115vAC wall charger
Wanna offer me something?

Thanks Steve, but I bid on one of the ones I found from the ebay links.

Thanks for the links :)

I LOVE my vertex 220. Loud, small, sturdy, water resist, & good features. MyPilotStore has it with free Alkaline battery case and 12v plug-in.
