Hey folks I'm Flying to Ocracoke NC with the CAB and another couple on Monday for about 4 days. Route from KLOM is basically DQO ENO SBY V1 on down to ORF NORTN D-> . Any info on places to eat or things to do would me most appreciated.
Also there are a ton of MOAs and Restricted Areas around there. Can I expect to be vectored all over the south on an IFR flight plan.

Yep Howards is it. Wish I could go,

Howards is good.

If you like fishing, we had good success with Fish Tails. We then took our 42 fish (6 people, 4 hours) to the Pink Pony, where they did them up quite nicely for dinner.

The extra fish we took back to the Pelican Inn where the B&B owner cooked them up for us for breakfast the next morning. The owner, who had a very unusual first name that escapes me at the moment, also runs a Part 135 operation there and would pick you up at the airport. Unfortunately, I know he had the B&B up for sale a little while back. Don't know if he succeeded in selling.

No, you won't get vectored all over the South. Plan on stopping at Manteo and refueling (there are no services at W95) then just head down the Outer Banks.

Howards is nice and the atmosphere is great. The best restaurant is the Back Porch, but there are other great places to eat. The Flying Mellon has a very good breakfast.

Enjoy

Adam:

Lots of good advice, Back Porch is a good resturant, maybe the best on the island. The Pelican Resturant, not the B&B, also has good food and used to have live music. Think you know all the other items. The restricted areas and MOA's are not likey to be an issue. PAX approach and Oceania are great to work with. Just keep the water on your left and the land on your right, and you'll get there!

One other tidbit, if you don't have a cover for the plane, a spray bottle of water and a soft cloth is almost a necessity to clean the salt spray off the windshield.

Hope this front moves out and gives you better weather. Enjoy!

Was ust at Manteo a couple of weeks ago. No problem with ATC other than they had a radar outage and I had to give position reports to them a lot.

That is the only place to get fuel, then head east to the shore line and follow it south.

Ditto to everything said so far. Recommend you bring some tiedown ropes because the chains were in pretty poor shape last time I was there.

I guess you may have already seen the Wright Brother's First Flight Monument up close, if not, it's really something to stand under it or if time is short, a low pass or point turns for telephotos.
