Visual History of Air Force One

Cool! Thanks for sharing.

When I'm president, all kinds of cool sh*t will carry that call sign. I can't believe none of the presidents, especially H.W. Bush, ever hopped in for a ride in a fighter or something badass. Or maybe we just don't know about it. When I get into office, I will have one of each type of combat aircraft kept at Andrews for regular jaunts around the patch.

Nice article, but it has several errors. The paint scheme was changed by Kennedy not because it was "regal" (in fact, no one in their right mind would have characterized it that way, it was butt ugly military).

Here's an article about one of my heroes, Raymond Lowey, who designed the "Kennedy" paint scheme for AF-1.

The article gets another point wrong. While Nixon was the only sitting president to fly on a commercial airliner, this wasn't the only use of Executive One. For some bizarre reason, that call sign was also used by the Marine chopper carrying the former presidents away from the White House.
