Visiting the Verdun battlefields

Last week we made a flying trip to Verdun, to visit the world war I battlefields and the Douaumont Ossuary. Coincidentally, this trip coincided with Ukraine's counteroffensive, and the blowing up of a dam in the Dnieper River.

Been to Douaumont Ossuary before. Amazing place. Another excellent cemetery is just down the road at Lorraine American Cemetery. Actually landed at that one for a ceremony.

It’s amazing how many American cemeteries are there. I always knew Normandy was the place to go but had no idea so many other cemeteries were in France to honor American KIA. Lorraine American Cemetery is beautiful.
