I'll be in the Portland, OR area this coming week. I am interviewing for a job in Vancouver, and I recently interviewed for a job in Yakima. Does anyone know of an reasonable plane rental place (or can someone who would lend me a plane?) in the area? I spotted Troutdale and Pearson Fields but I am curious to know of other options as well.

Thanks!!

Aero Maintenance at KVUO (Pearson Field) is the most convenient for you -- walking distance from downtown Vancouver. Their C-150s and C-172s are no beauty queens, but well maintained and have reasonable rental rates. Tell Clu at the front desk, and Bill, the owner, that I sent you.

And you get to fly from one of the oldest operating airfields in the country (and in my humble and unbiased opinion, one of the prettiest as well). Stop in at the nearby museum and learn about the field's fascinating history.

Didn’t catch on my first read of your post that it’s Vancounver in the Portland area where the job is. What do you want to rent for when you are here? Check the place out from the air? I can take you up and let ya fly some from the right seat. That’ll depend on availability of course, I’m a renter. What days are you going to be here? I can schedule something at VUO. Sooner I know the better, they are kinda busy nowadays. Don’t worry about not following through if something happens, I’ll just go without you. Here some other flying opportunities in the area to think about in the long term. There are some guys with C172 at VUO, 5 of them, that I saw one is selling his membership. I looked at them a couple years ago but didn’t because the plane was not as IFR capable as I wanted. Good plane and good group of guys.
I see you are a glider pilot, there’s an active soaring club over by HIO. http://wvsc.org/

Oh yeah, if you were ever thinking of building an RV, Portland is Mecca for RV builders.
