The group flight activity is right around the corner (17 days away), so I wanted to drop some "squak notes" and explain the upcoming trip to Nassau,Bahamas. I am hoping for a great turnout. This is the first of many short and long trips that you will see. This is simply to be a fun time for friends and family, so everyone is welcome. Upcoming activites will see many more places like: Ohio, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, National Air and Space Museum (Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center), EAA Oshkosh Wisconsin, Tangier Island, and more.

We are taking reservations for the entire Horizon Fleet for the event. This will be first come first reserved, so reserve your aircraft and place early. This is an open activity and if you have your own aircraft and would like to join our caravan you are more than welcome. We simply ask that you join our free informational meeting one week before departure to review all the information. During this informational seminar we will review:
1) Flight Planning
2) Fuel Stops
3) Rental Requirements for Life Vests, and Rafts
4) Clearing Customs in the Bahamas
5) Return trip flight plan
6) Port of Entry ADIZ requirements
7) US Customs
8) Fuel Stop

Each aircraft will need the following onboard:
1) One instrument rated pilot
2) One pilot with an FCC Radio Operators License
There's actually a way to do it all online too. First, you need to register with the FCC and get an FCC Registration Number (FRN), that can be done here: https://svartifoss2.fcc.gov/coresWeb/publicHome.do
Then, u can log into the Universal Licensing System using your FRN here:
http://wireless.fcc.gov/uls/ <http://wireless.fcc.gov/uls/>
Once you do that, simply click on the "apply for a new license" link and follow the directions. The license code you are applying for is RR - Restricted Operator. You pay the fee online using a credit card and you'll get it in the mail within a few weeks.

The cost is $60. There is no test just fill out the application. It is also a lifetime license.
3) An Rental Checkout may be required for solo

Each person will need the following:
1) US Passport (Birth Certificate no longer accepted)

We will be departing on Friday morning, March 20 and returning Sunday evening March 22.
Aircraft and hotel reservations are your responsibility. I have created an aircraft reservation link below for you to fill out and reserve your place(s). For the hotel, there are a few options on Paradise Island.
1) The first choice is the Atlantis Paradise Island. This is a beautiful hotel on the ocean with and underground aquarium, watersides, indoor and outdoor restaurants, cabanas, spas, and more. The only down side is it does tend to be a bit more on the pricier side.

2) The other choice is Comfort Inn and Suites Paradise Inland. This location is right adjacent to Atlantis and with your room key you have access to everything at Atlantis. This is my common choice.
