Probably not even worth mentioning that the "VIP" idiots are coming to town again Wednesday, for the Presidential Debate.

Yup... close the only North-South Interstate to most car traffic (only traffic allowed is away from University Blvd.) and ALL truck traffic... do the usual stupid Airspace closures...

And hold a "public" debate in a venue that's completely land-locked, has residential parking passes just to keep students from blocking people's driveways, and holds a whopping 300 people.

I wish they would just go away to some city that needs this crap. Who's dumb-assed idea was it to hold a Presidential Debate in Denver?

Facepalm.

I really hate that the politicians keep coming here.

Welcome to my world. While metro DC deals with this crap all the time I'm doubly screwed this weekend. They're closing CJR down at noon for the Airshow, so I hvae to get my plane OUT of there early Friday. I just got an pre-notam warning that a VIP movement is coming to Dulles Friday which was where I was going to relocate the plane to.

I agree that these VIP movement area's are a real pain. They've have been invading Florida heavily for the last couple of months.

Obama's got Vegas closed down for three days. VIP TFRS are a bunch of BS.

Used to be like a one mile 1000' tfr that followed the president around. I suspect it was mostly to keep (press) helicopters from overhead. These 30 mile close down the airspace things are not doing anybody any good.

This passed Saturday the Fort Myers area was a mess. TFR from Friday to Sunday for.......yep, Joe the clown. They strated to "give away tickets" on Monday. By Saturday they were saying tickets still available. On Sunday after Joe left the media was reposring about 1500 people attended.

What a waste.

Go to the federal district court and file a motion for a show cause order - tortuous interference, no economic impact study, uncompensated taking of the public airspace, etc..
I know the shysters on here have scoffed at me before, but until the wheels start to squeak there will be no grease...

I never see TFRs make it any further north than Portsmouth, NH <insert flying smiley emoticon>

Maybe stick them in the bowles of KDEN with the miner's axes, and hideos murals. :D

Actually, that's too good for them. Feel for ya Bro, TFR's s*ck.

To be honest I would swap the occasional TFR if they would ban TV ads, robo calls, junk mail, door to door canvassers and all the other Cr** that is around 24/7 this year.

And we do get more than our share of everything political in OH.

Cheers

The inauguration and the SOTU are miserable in the DC area. And that's on top of the usual SFRA and the floating restrictions that Ron mentions.

At least with the Inauguration and the SOTU and the like, there is sufficient advance notice. The problem here is I'm trying to figure out how to get into Dulles between the time CJR closes up at noon and before I get banned from the airspace due to this predicted yet unpublished TFR. When on earth do they intend to issue the NOTAM?

This is right up there with the 1 hour notice on the change of DNC TFR effective time that caught my neightbor (he called Flight Circus at 1PM, the updated notam was issued at 1:07 closing the airspace over our airport at 2:15.)

One reason why I love living in CT. Everyone and their mother knows the state will be blue in November, so why spend the dollars to change it.

You swing-state-guys can keep all the fun to yourself. :yesnod:

Ya gotta understand -- other than the election, snow storms that shut down DIA and the Broncos, no one even acknowledges the existence of the Mountain Time Zone. We like it that way.

We can't do anything about the snow storms.

The bad part of it is I spend most of the year in OH and the rest in CO so I am doomed.

Cheers

Because TFR airspace frequently changes, AOPA strongly encourages
pilots to obtain a briefing before every flight.

I agree, Ron - it's out of control. I'm based at HEF.

Is this TFR somehow different from every other presidential TFR out there, or am I missing something? Or is it just that it's in your back yard that makes it relevant to us all? We deal with these all of the time on the east coast. No, we don't like them, but they're a fact of life.

Obviously that which Easterners think is routine tends to make yer average Westerner just a might testy. It has something to do with man-made vs natural "challenges." It also has to do with someone saying that something must be done a particular way when it's obviously pointless to do that thing or do it that particular way.

They're also shutting down all the major roads on the south side of Denver for 5 hours tomorrow. Guess they finally figured out that a truck of anfo or a similar power device is a threat. Wouldn't want to have a truck parked on a side street near DU right now.

Clark's got it.

I could really care less if someone blows up the politicians. History shows we always manage to find some more whenever that happens.

I would hate to live somewhere where I had to "get used to" the entire city being inconvenienced regularly for these ninnies.

All they're here for is TV cameras. Could just as easily set 'em up in a nice tent somewhere in East Texas for that. The venue chosen, only holds 300 people, so it isn't about "public" debate.

Not only shutting down the most highly traveled road in the state during rush hour, but the traffic cams will also be shut off.

Could just as easily set 'em up in a nice tent somewhere in East Texas for that.

Nate; your thoughts remind me of the line from "Fiddler on the Roof" where they ask the rabbi, "Is there a blessing for the Czar?"

And the old wizened rabbi responds, "But of course. (adopts a singing prayer voice) 'May the Lord bless and keep the Czar.... Far away from us!' "

Nice to be in a place where one party sees no point in campaigning. Gosh knows, we got our share and then some during the previous administration.
The only time I have had to change plans because of a TFR in the past year was in Dallas. :D

Had to go to KDFW instead of KADS since the Prez was at Love.

The DULLES TFR just came out. No GA in/out of Dulles from 10-12:30 Friday.
