Video Editing

If you have a Mac, iMovie is easy to use and free with the computer. I personally use FinalCut (not free). If you get stuck or need some help/ideas feel free to ask.

Windows Live Movie Maker works for what I do. But I don't do anything fancy.

Use movie maker, if you don't have movie maker live see if you can download it(newest version.) Live doesn't work on older machines. With the old version of movie maker you may have to download codecs to get mp4 videos to work.

For a cheaper payware software, I like Pinnacle. (You can get a 1- or 2-month free trial of the latest version.) It has an easy user interface that anyone can jump right into.

For a super-advanced freeware, I like Lightworks. It is a great piece of software actually made my movie editors. It is quite different than the Pinnacle/Movie Maker/ect, but is awesome once you spend the time to learn it. On their homepage, they boast about some big hollywood productions made using it, some of those include The Departed, The Aviator, Pulp Fiction, and many more.

I downloaded live movie maker for vista (after upgrading to SP2) and it is nice, but does not do MPEG4. I have not had any luck installing a codec for it. Converting to AVI and then editing it results in a quality reduction. Sucks.
