Veteran dies on Honor Flight

Wonderful that he was able to experience the honor flight out and the tour of the memorial. R.I.P.

He died doing something that I'm sure was a real blessing to him. I appreciate his service.

I used to attend church with a gentleman who passed away a few years ago. He got to go on an Honor Flight, and our whole church turned out at the airport that evening to welcome him back home. I think that was a major highlight in the last several years of his life. He felt so honored to be able to do that.

I'm actually happy that it happened after his visit to the memorial. 95 is a good number to reach. (Some 20 or so years ago, it was often reported that 1,000 WWII veterans died each day.)

I have been fortunate enough to have been an escort several times for returning Honor Flight members as part of the Patriot Guard Riders - always a great time seeing the smiles on the faces of the vets as they see the crowds at the airport. So much more joyful than working the funerals...

To absent companions...RIP....

RIP,hope that flight completed his bucket list.

The actions of the flight escorts and Mr. Manchel's fellow veterans made me choke up. They draped his body with an American flag, and as the vets deplaned, each one of them saluted as they passed.

It's shameful that patrotic actions are now belittled.
