My old invoicing software was getting clunky, and the guy who wrote it (which would be me) decided he'd rather look around than fix it. It was written in PHP3 back in the late 90's or early 00's, so I got my use out of it.
I stumbled across FusionInvoice, which suited my needs perfectly. It's simple, uncluttered, unbloated, easy to edit, and works. Took about 10 minutes to install and a couple of hours to customize (including setting up the PayPal API). But all of the customizations other than the PayPal gateway were optional. I could have used it right out of the box, as it were. I just wanted to tweak the invoice design and things like that. All cosmetic stuff.
