Vegetarians live longer!

I'd rather die young then give up steaks, hamburgers and brats! Osh is coming and I need my Wisconsin fix.

Remember, if God had wanted us to be vegetarians, He would have made broccoli more fun to shot.

:-)

And he certainly wouldn't have invented bacon.

Bacon is not vegetarian????!!!!

What next? You gonna tell me it isn't kosher too?

The article is hogwash! It says that "vegetarians have a 12% lower risk of death". BOGUS!

Vegetarians don't really live longer. It just SEEMS longer. And seriously, how much more poorly written could that article be? "12% lower risk of death". Really? I thought it was pretty much 100% for everyone. Except me, of course. I plan to live forever.

I eat vegetarian.........I usually let a cow preprocess the vegetables though. ;)

You people are offensive to me and other members of PETA!!:nono::nono:
People
Eating
Tasty
Animals.
:D:D

The drubbing given to vegetarian food by you people only illustrates your utterly profound ignorance. No one has ever left Steinholme a whit less than sated and a whit less than satisfied. That includes members of this here board, by the way.

And your response appears to indicate a complete failure to understand humor.

Here here, I'm not berating vegetables at all. Vegetables are great!

(That's what food eats!)

Well, we may be ignorant, but you can't say this crowd is witless!!

Now pass the steak...

Is that true even when the veggies are cooked in lard?

There actually is another study I can't find right now that showed a significant lifespan increase in mice that were slightly starved all the time. Sounded like just a peachy way to live...

No, it's because I understand good taste that I eat vegetarian food prepared in the kitchens of Steinholme. Woe be that everyone else is so benighted.

Never fear. We carnivores eat veggies too, but as a side dish. :yesnod:

She: I hope you enjoy that steak; a cow had to die so you could have it".

Myself: "Not this one darling; this one starved to death 'cause some PETA-bot ate all it's food!"

Beer flowed thru every nostril at our table...

I guess if I was diagnosed with a terminal illness I could give up steaks...though I would still croak my meat-less existence would seem like forever...

Chris

This should belong in that marriage thread that is floating around.

The term for that is "caloric restriction". Some recent results from some decades long experiments with primates are not showing results similar to those seen for some other animals. A real disappointment, considering how long it takes to run tests like that. Makes it tough to correct experimental errors and perform a second run. Testing a method for immortaility would take forever to get past the FDA!

What's the deal?? Let folks eat what they want with no recriminations. No one likes meat more than I do, but I don't eat it every meal, or even every day. To night it is grilled asparagus, mushrooms, onions and bell peppers with bruschetta topped with cilantro, fresh tomato and goat cheese. Totally veggie, absolutely delicious with some chilled Provencal rose and a couple of glasses of pastis after the meal.....ahhhhhhh. Retirement is hell. :D
