I am looking at upgrading the avionics in the new bird and part of that will be removing the 530W. I have a 430W in the 182 and it wouldn't be a huge deal to swap the 430 for the 530, I don't think it's a huge deal anyway. :dunno:
Does anyone know what these boxes are selling for? The shop will of course trade them in, but I think I'll come out better selling the one I don't keep. I am leaning towards selling the 430 and putting the 530 in the 182, it's easier on my 49 year old eyes. ;)
I wouldn't have indicators, but would included the installation brackets, I am not sure about the antenna, I think the 750 requires a different one, if so it would be included. I am not sure of the age on the 530, the 430 is 2 years old with maybe 100 hours on it. :D

I'm not sure what the value is on a 530W, but when we added the 430W to the 310 recently, we elected to go for a new one at roughly $8k because a used one was fetching roughly $7k.

A used 530W is probably fetching a couple grand more than that.

They seem to fetch what they're worth on eBay. I'd have it tagged before I put it on the market. Looks like with an 8130 attached to it, it'll bring in the $9-$10K range.

Thanks, I figured the 430 would bring $6-7K and the 530 $8-9K maybe a bit more. I just wanted to see if anybody had any actual knowledge, my estimates tend to be off, usually not in my favor. :mad2:

I was looking a putting a used 430w in and I think the shop was putting the value at 6700.00. When I was talking to him about it, he went to his computer, pulled up ebay and used that to value his used one. The one he had was an older 28v unit.

It cost me about 3k more to go with a 650.

That's what I am going with the 650/750 combo and pulling the 530, I am just trying to decide if it's worth keeping the 530 and putting it in my 182 and selling the 430 out of it. :D

I am guessing you will forget about the lost additional revenue from the sale and the install expense while you are enjoying the 530 in the 182. I sure hope I am not making a mistake not going with the 750. I don't think the 182 will be my primary plane for long, so I don't want to put too much in it. I am jealous of your 650/750 combo!

I put the 430 in the week that Garmin announced the 650/750 series.:mad2:
I really forgot the differences until I jumped in and fired up the 430, it is a much smaller display and less information on the screen. I hope I like the new touchscreens, I am a little bummed that you can't get XM radio with the new GDL 88, you get "free" weather but no way to get XM without adding the GDL 69A for $4K:mad2: So, I can spend $4K for either box with the 88 I get free weather and no XM, with the 69A I get weather and XM for $400.00 pe year! :yikes: Me thinks I am going to go with the 88 and free weather and keep the 496 for XM, even though I don't like the look of a portable in the yoke. Personally, I don't see why I can use the hockey puck antenna off the 496 and tie it into something in the panel for XM radio. ;)
