Subject:VA Employees caught in Katrina

Folks,

As I'm sure you are aware, hurricane Katrina caused some major
damage to the Gulf Coast this week leaving thousands homeless and without
the bare necessities of life, i.e., food, water, shelter etc. What you may
not have realized is that there were three VA hospitals that were
devastated as well, Biloxi VAMC (which is still open, but overwhelmed
having to treat the local civilians as well), New Orleans which has been
severely damaged and evacuated and Gulf Port which was almost completely
destroyed. The patients have all been evacuated and are well looked after,
however the VA employees who used to work at those hospitals are in a bad
way. Like everyone else down there, they have lost everything.

To help these folks out the HAC Employees' Association, in
conjunction with the VA Canteen Service, is collecting money for those
poor souls effected by the storm. We can not take donations of goods, only
money. This will be collected by the EA and sent to the VA Employee's
Disaster Relief Fund, where the money will be doled out to VA employees
hit by the storm. If you would like to donate there are receptacles in
both buildings. The one in the Jackson Bldg. is in suite 444, the
Directors suite on the counter. The other is in the Ptarmigan Bldg, in the
Human Resources receptionist area on the 10th floor. Checks are welcome
but must be made out to the VA Employees' Disaster Relief Fund.

Please give and give generously. They need it and they would do it for you.
