Hi all

Planning a flight in a few weeks that will likely take me along V292. The chart shows an unusable section of V292. Anyone know why? Doesnt seem like a lit of terrain to be blocking signals or raising the MEA a ton.

And am I reading the chart right, that T295 (which follows the same route) is good?

Thanks!

For whatever reason, it didn't meet the standards on a flight check inspection. There's no reason you couldn't fly it or the T route if /G.

Look to the right a bit further, it says R-279 unusable beyond 50nm. WIGAN starts at 49nm and since there is a bend in the airway, you can't use the next VOR until SAGES.

The VORs are deteriorating and the FAA hasn't been fixing them, at least not in a timely manner.

They aren't fixing any except those required to support air carrier ops and other critical VORs, such as DNW at KJAC.

PDZ in Southern California has such poor performance it raised the MDA on the KEMT VOR-B several years ago. But, it works higher and closer to the VOR so they aren't going to fix or replace it.
