The motorized parachute "gets just over the field, they start dropping the candy and all of a sudden he starts to descend real quick. He guns it to get it back up and goes straight down into the crowd,"

At least no one was killed.

But they did cart a few to the hospital including some young kids. Sounds like quite the black eye for the event organizers and the pilot. Seems pretty stupid that he was flying directly over the crowd.

That link worked. And it looks to me like the pilot flew under some powerlines just before crashing.

I don't think those are power lines. He was in a park. I think those are light poles for the playing fields, IOW no wires that he ducked under.

It looks like he reduced power in order to swoop down a bit to release the candy... but even when he cobbed it to climb back up, it kept coming down. Wind, maybe?
