Using Spotify while connected to Stratus

I connect my iPad to my Stratus WiFi network while flying and then connect the iPad to my audio panel via Bluetooth. However, when I try to play downloaded music from Spotify the Spotify app seems to get confused by the Stratus WiFi network (which has no internet, just ads-b data) and tries to stream instead of just play offline. Has anyone else experienced this and found a workaround?

Settings - playback - offline.
May be premium only and it has to be connected online every couple weeks(?) to authorize you. You also have to designate your playlists for offline.
