Using a drone to take a flying selfie

Pretty cool. Can't wait for "Oh FUDGE!" installment.

I wonder if he conducted a pre-flight formation briefing with himself?

So we are to assume he flew the drone into the sky, then set it to hover mode then left it to control itself while he flew around it in his p-parachute. Anyone have an issue with that?

Share the sandbox or we will give the whole thing to the airlines.

Well it does seem that he had the "drone" within direct eyesight range.

BTW, I think we should come up with a name for a sub 5 lb quadcopter besides "drone" which doesn't conjure images of a Predator.

Nope.

Towers are marked on the map. Birds are sentient beings with ears and eyes that will at the very least try to get out of your way. Hit a stationary five pound quad copter at 1200 feet and 120 kts and it's gonna mess up your day.

Yes I know the chances are slim but how many of us have had near misses with party balloons? If these things become more and more prevalent and are not regulated in any way it's only a matter of time before someone hits one. We're not allowed to have Lawn Darts but you can have an autonomous two kilo machine hovering a thousand feet in the air with nobody at the wheel?

I don't think so...
