Used Car Values

Ya but.

In order to be eligible for the exchange, the vehicle had to be legal and licensed which means, in most metro areas, they were in good enough shape to pass emissions testing. They called them "clunkers," but in a very large proportion of cases, the cars were not that bad.

It is not political commentary, it is common sense. They could have easily said, "no re-registration of traded vehicles," thus allowing for engines to be recycled. Foolish waste of resources- an extreme environmental miscue.

This!!!!

Don't understand? Come visit my office someday!

Not particularly, they are still recycled, just for core metal value, or an engine you need to properly rebuild, rather than stick into another clunker to blast smog from.

I wouldn't want to rebuild an engine after it has been destroyed by that silicate slurry destruction process.

All your bearings, journal surfaces, oil pumps, are smoked. Seals, galleries, etc. are contaminated and need to be cleaned out.... forget it, those engines are DONE.

Best you could do is maybe pull parts off the engine like alternators and starter motors.
