No word on location, reason, or crew. Happened a little while ago.

4 crewmembers injured. Crashed into Harbor Mountain on a training flight.

Incident happened 3nm north of the airport. Aircraft reported to be a total loss and in multiple pieces. All four aircrew were able to walk to the ambulance.
Amazing they are okay given the reported damage.

Not sure why they flew right into the mountain. I spent two years flying in the worst weather in my life and this happens?

That track coincides with the Sitka One Departure off rwy11.

I’m showing a crash location of around 1,500 ft with a departure ceiling of around 1,100 ft. I think these guys were IMC on climb out.

The Flt Mech posted a photo on FB right after the crash showing the 60 in several pieces. Pruned quite a few spruce trees going in. No mention of why, but I have to assume an obvious CFIT (duh) like the other Sitka crash 3 years ago. 6002 was the second bird delivered to the USCG back in 1990-91.

If this was CFIT, it’s absolutely amazing that they walked away without a scratch. Possibly saw the trees at the last second, pitched up abruptly and pancaked it in.
