USAF Museum virtual tour

I have to get over there before the weather warms up and we get tourists. The maximally cool place I know, and only an hour down the road from me.

I used to volunteer as a gallery monitor for presidential/experimental and cold war :) It was truly a pleasure. You really get to meet some great people, other volunteers and visitors.

When you go to visit, make sure to talk with the gallery monitors (especially the older ones!). Most of the best stories in that place aren't written down anywhere.

Agreed, not too many other places to get stories of ME262 rammings:D

I don't know if things have changed since I was there (2009?) - but they had an interesting part of the collection (former Air Force 1's among other things) in several hangars on the other side of the field. You had to sign up for the tours (transported by bus) in advance. Don't miss it - and inquire about that part of the exhibits as soon as you arrive. You can easily spend all day at the AFM - so plan accordingly.

I haven't been there since I moved to Ohio. Then again, I think I lived closer in Michigan ;)
