When departing the US for Canada, do I need to call CBP in addition to submitting an eapis manifest? I know I do for the return trip, but how about outbound?

No need to call outbound once you receive the "OK to depart" reply when you file the eapis.

not to hijack the thread, this relates in a way.
For our passports, we have the plastic "drivers license" type. do you need the passport booklet to go to Canada?

thank you

Yes. The card is only good for ground travel.

Thanks for the help, guys. I had those last minute "crap am I forgetting anything" jitters.

I had that reply email address tied to my phone. Made it much easier.

You do need to call CAN-PASS with your inbound information and ETA before departing US, and then either in person where you land or on the phone again. My exposure to CAN-PASS was all by phone in Abbotsford and Whitehorse. No need to call CAN-PASS outbound, at least that was the case last year.
