Upgrading GDL69 to GDL69A

Currently have a GDL69 installed and my buddy is doing a avionics upgrade and asked if I wanted his GDL69A.

I currently use the portable player but if I can get the GDL69A installed reasonably I’d go that route.

I called 2 local shops and they wanted thousands which doesn’t make sense. They use the same antenna and power source, what else needs to be done? I was hoping it would be a slide in replacement since they use the same tray.

They are pretty close to identical units. As you note there's an antenna connection and a DB-78. You have to connect up a few additional pins (audio out, mute lines) but other than that, there's no difference. There's an extra DB-9 that goes to the wireless remote if you have that.

At a minimum you have to run a wire from the GDL to the audio panel.
If you end up not using it I will buy it from you.

Why not use a GDL51 and the bare wire kit?
