I service a 1949 - 170-a it has been in the family since grand pa bought in 1954,It is as stock as the 1949 can be.. original wool interior, same instrument panel, it has been repainted, I installed the engine in in 2005,
the owner would like to know if it it is time for a look? new interior, new paint

do you folks think, leave it alone or ?

If it smells like a litter box, a swamp, or uncle joe’s den (the one that smoked 3 cheap cigars a day for 60 years), then time for a new interior.

Freshen her up but keep the spirit of 49... would be my vote!

that’s what I’m doing to my 47 c140....

To each their own but I hate seeing the classics with a modern paint scheme and glass cut into em...

After repainting my interior, I opted out of redoing the upsolstry- ripped it out n painted, but did redo the seat (lost 8lbs going with modern foam) but the thing then had an awful smell- it smelled fresh n new!

put a couple shop rags in a becket in the back while parked to get the right smell of oil, grease and avgas back!
