Anyone updated to the new version yet. I'm leaving with the family at 0800 tomorrow for Orlando. Don't think I am brave enough to update just before leaving for cross country flight. Others agree? Anything new and miraculous in the update?
 
If it was me I'd wait until after your trip. The update may not cause any issues, but ... you ... never ... know ... :yikes: :mad2:

Even if it's perfect, you can always get acquainted with the new features at your leisure later on. At least you know that what's on your iPad now works.
 
I was reading about it, if I were depending on it for the trip, I would wait until I got home to update it. I am funny about trying new software when I think I am going to NEED it to function properly.
That being said, I am sure it would be fine, I wouldn't do an Apple update before I left though! :mad2:

I have it running on iPad Air 2 with iOS 8.1.0 no problems. Haven't run it in flight yet but it hasn't had any trouble on the ground.

Anyone running it on 8.1.1?

There is nothing in the update that would be compelling (IMHO) for your flight. Sync might be nice but not compelling, the more detailed aircraft profiles (with distinct climb, cruise and descent performance), and WAC charts are available.

None of that seems tactically important. More helpful for planning.

Wait till you get back. Even if it works perfectly, there may be changes you don't expect and aren't familiar with.
If the family wasn't going along, I might have different advice. But probably not.

You are a WISE man. Although Foreflight has a reasonably good track record with their upgrades, it is a product that is safety related. Having spent the majority of my career working directly for software companies, this kind of caution is justified IMHO.

Downloading an unproven revision immediately before a cross country flight is NOT a good plan.
 
I'm running it on 8.1.1. I suspect I am falling outside of the target demographic, as I do not find many of the new features interesting, but otherwise, it seems to work fine.

Running it on 8.1.1 on both iPad Air and iPhone 6. No issues that I've seen,
 
Ok one problem with 6.4... My W&B profile disappeared. It was only on one of my ipads so not sure if sync screwed up and sync'd it to oblivion or wtf happened. Not happy because I put a good bit of work into that. :-(
 
Seems to be running fine,flew with it this morning,no problems.
 
I've been using it since the update came out since my apps update automatically. So far I haven't had any issues.

Can't wait to see what other weather goodies Scott has planned. Maybe built in Skew-T or PIREP submission.

AUTO-TAXI ON MAP

Requires a ForeFlight Pro subscription.

EXPANDED FBO AND BUSINESS INFORMATION

With this release, we greatly expanded the FBO and other business information available via ForeFlight. You will now see more hotel, dining, transportation, and attraction information via ForeFlight, making it an expansive directory of information and services available to pilots.
