Well, I posted many months ago in the midst of trying to renew my medical so I figured an update was in order. After 23 months of trying, I got my 3rd class! It expires later this month... 
A big thank you to Dr Chien for his guidance which ultimately led me to success! I am very pleased to report that his expectations were wrong, and I was able to get my 3rd class without an SI. I had a great deal going for me so I am sure my case was not typical, but my past use of SSRI is now well and truly behind me.
