Update Ipad2 os

I've spend over an hour now on line and trying to figure out how to simply upgrade my OS from 4.3. Any help welcome.
I have Itunes on my laptop but it's new. Old one died.

Plug your iPad into your computer, open iTunes if it doesn't open itself, and it should pop up and present you with the option when you sync. Otherwise if you select the iPad within iTunes there should be an option for it as well.

I got something on the computer and clicked it. It say files on my Ipad would be backed up to my computer and could take up to an hour. I clicked if but don't see anything happening.

Opps, I see a little bar in the upper right hand corner of Itunes running, when I click it says Ipad update 18 minutes to go. I just hate updating the OS. Usually have to take B5 supplement to remain calm.

Oh by the way it may be a bit late, but make sure you back everything up completely as you will probably have to do a recovery and restore from backup.

I did the same thing the other night, took over 5 hours before it was all done updating to iOS 6.1

The backup happens automatically prior to the OS update.

Seems to me they use stronger stuff than B5 to stay calm, at least from the smell wafting from the 'Genius' room in the back.

Not if you do it through the cloud. Fortunately at least my paid apps were intact.
