I keep my credit cards under my tinfoil-lined hat. It serves multiple purposes.

That's exactly what the vid says, I was hoping to get rich quick by inventing an rfid shield for wallets and purses but he beat me to it!
There are tons of RF Wallet shields out there.. have been for years..
this is nothing new... it was just "highlighted" to the general public because the capability to steal RFID CC numbers was on a recent NCIS TV show!![]()
I didn't sit through all of the fear mongering. Do they point out that not all credit cards have RFID smart chips?

Yes they did, Mike. They also said you could make your very own RFID shield by wrapping your card with Aluminum foil.

If you have several RFID card won't they all respond and garble to data the reader is looking for?
Make that "small plastic sippy cup", if you please. A glass could break and cut you.I'm convinced that watching all the paranoia and killers and bad news stuff will only result in you hiding in your house terrified of your own shadow...then drown while drinking a small glass of water filled to 1/8" deep because any more depth is dangerous.
Nope. The communication protocols deal with that.Pi1otguy said:If you have several RFID card won't they all respond and garble to data the reader is looking for?
This all assumes that thieves are smart, an assumption sadly lacking in evidence.
There is another method of getting card info happening now. The thief calls a hotel and asks for a room number. If someone answers they pose as a desk clerk and says there has been a problem getting the card to run. They then prompt for card number and the security code and then go on to say that is what they have could the person please verify the name as listed on the card.
Interesting !!!!
Does that make this a zombie thread?Holy necropost!
BofA does (or atleast used to). Also most card companies allow you to personalize them, so I suppose you could put your pic on the card that way too. I just don't see it helping.I do not have any CC that are RFID capable, why would you want one?
All my cards require that you give them the 3 number on the back before they will work.
What we really need is a picture of the authorized user on the front, and a warning "If it ain't this guy do not process" It wouldn't stop phony CCs but it will stop any one from using my card.

Apparently in the real world a lot of people will occasionally let SO's or family borrow cards and unless it's changed in the past decade or so many places are very understanding of this practice.

Well... I trust my wife and kids enough to let them use my credit cards (and my guns, too). I can't think of anyone else I'd let use either.before you allow any one to use your CC why wouldn't you go to the bank and get them cash, that way you'd know how much they spent. I'd rather lend them a gun at least you'd know what they were going to do with it.
