The following METARs are current for two neighboring airports.

KPAO 262047Z 35082KT 30SM SKC 15/ A3019
KNUQ 262056Z 35006KT 10SM CLR 14/M01 A3019 RMK AO2 SLP225 T01391011 58015

Looking out the window, the flagpole is limp, and conditions are very good. Not anywhere near gale winds.

Looks like a mistype. KPAO is not reported as automated (!).

That's some serious wind.... Wonder if a TS came through or maybe a KinG Air did a run up in front of the AWOS?

If the other metars aren't agreeing, Pirep it or call the controlling authority.

Nope, no thunderstorms. It's a really, really nice CAVU day.

While there are some King Airs on the field, the weather station is atop the tower and would be rather difficult to blast like that. Besides, do turboprops even need to do run-ups?

And phoning the ATIS gives something much more reasonable. So, I think it's just a typo.

The "8" and "0" buttons are close together.
Maybe the op forgot his glasses?

Hey, don't blame me for that.

You can look somewhat back in time at ADDS to see that the report really did say 82 knots.
