Ultralight down new San Diego

I was thinking it was maybe inaccurate use of the word "ultralight".

But Googling "ultralight marijuana" came up with this:

From an ICE report here:

Yikes!

"Here, hold my joint and watch this...mon!" :wink2:

Who says there was a pilot on board? Rig it up to fly straight and level with the right amount of fuel to get to where it's going and have someone on the other side unload it after it "lands".

Could even have a one channel radio control to turn...level...

Or, maybe not...

Interesting.

But, from my linked ICE article...

"At the crash site, authorities found evidence of the pilot, including discarded gear and a single pair of footprints leading away from the scene. There were no traces of blood, leading authorities to believe the pilot walked away without serious injury."

I would say a Remote control system using an FPV. Just a matter of time before we hear about these being used on something like this.

My guess is, Aerostat probably saw him. He knew he was being followed and put it down and ran. Might be stealthier if he tried it in a rain or thunderstorm next time using 496 panel page.

Looks like a two stroke, weight shift trike. Easy to fly, and easy to screw up.
Looks like a bald front tire, which means the rest of it was probably neglected, too.

250 pounds? Pfffttt! A drop in the bucket. Take a look at one of my camera store customers in the mid 1980s king-pinned:

Harvey was a "regular" for about two years. I never would have suspected. Then one day I bought a Boston newspaper and a near front full-page photo of a drug kingpin arrested - full banner headline, and I said, "HEY, THAT'S MY CUSTOMER HARVEY PRAGER.
