Ulcer

I have a friend who wants to start flight training. He has an ulcer and recently had to change his eating habits because it was acting up. Is this something to be concerned with for getting his first 3rd class medical certificate and his student license?

Yeah. It has to be healed. He has to have documentation thereof. Certain ulcers have been known to erode and when it comes out the back wall, suddenly you ain't flying anymore.
