I managed to lose my blackberry on St. Pattys day...I'm already going through withdrawal. I've called around to everywhere I was that night and no one has it, so I think I'm out of luck on finding it. Given I really don't want to pay for a new one, does anyone know a reputable place to buy refurbished phones?

Don't know how reputable they are, but I've bought from this place before:

May I suggest calling your Blackberry & see if anyone picks up (or if you hear it in the house)? You may need to try it a couple of times...

Try texting your phone and say there is a reward for it. If kids have picked it up they will respond. I know this sounds goofy but the person who told me about this method said that it has worked for him, twice.

FWIW, a visit to the places you may have lost it may produce better results than a call. When you're there in person you can ask the guy to ask the manager to ask the gal who keeps the stuff in her desk to ask the girl who was filling in that night to ask the boss who keeps the big stuff to ask the bartender who knows where he keeps it.

I noticed it was gone at some point during that evening, so it's definitely not in my house. I did call it a few times the next morning, but no one answered. I wish I still had it active on my account, but unfortunately I had to immediately switch to an old phone due to work issues.

I did make a personal visit to the bar the next morning where I'm about 85% sure I left it, but apparently they didn't have anyone turn it in.

That eBay store has a really good price on the Pearl...maybe a little too good.

My sister lost her cellphone in her bedroom... unfortunately, she did not start looking for it until the battery was almost dead, and she was only able to make it ring three or four times before it gave up the ghost. That was not nearly enough times, in that room.

That was, probably, two months back. IT will take an archaeologist, now, to find it.

Good news is, she has another phone (a very nice Razr) which she can just activate by getting a new SIM card. Unfortunately, she cannot recall where she put the Razr phone, either.

Some people shouldn't have cell phones. Get her one of these instead!

...

Remind me to never post about the time not long ago when I had the phone case broken belt clip that didn't latch right and I couldn't figure where I dropped the iPhone I just had in my hand a minute ago inside while I was in the parking lot...on a really cold day... so the receptionist gave me her phone to call it...but I couldn't figure out where it was after calling it and where it was ringing at, oh, 20 times or so with various sucesss getting "redial" to work......so the maintenance guy brought out a flashlight and we searched and searched, under cars,...and I tore apart the van....and Pancho frozed....and after an hour I went inside....and realized when it rang....it was stuck under my jacket. :mad2:

Cool, a Princess phone with a brief case! :)
That's a Trimline phone. The Princess Phone is this:

"It's little...It's lovely...It lights"

My mom worked for Ma Bell and remember the endless hype that there was a OMG! second kind of phone you could get. We had lots of little Princess Phone key chains.

Gawd, I feel old.

Oops, you're right! I do recall how mom wanted the "Princess Phone" in the master bedroom when we moved in 1967. I always thought the Trimline was more appealing. By today's standards, it would be a huge chunk of plastic given its size.

I'm kind of glad cell phones are coming back up in size with the PDAs. Before the Palm, the Nokia I had was so tiny, it hurt my fingers to hold on to it for any length of time.

:rofl::rofl: I'm sure the original has a lead weight in the base like the big phones did.

I just remembered a bit by, I think, Alan King, "Modern stuff....The Princess Phone only weighs 7(?) pounds! You ever tried dialing a phone that only weighs 7 pounds?" at which he picks up the receiver and ham fisted spins the dial and after a few hops the phone falls off of the little table it's on.

I recall having to hold those things in place while dialing. The recoil spring on the dialer was pretty strong.

But that Western Electric stuff was built for the ages. Almost indestructible, even. I've thrown out a bunch of POS Radio Shack and other brand phones since the good old days...but I don't really miss the "wake the dead" ringers that the old phones had.
