Two SWA flights hit by lightning while landing at Burbank's Bob Hope Airport

"...a flight attendant reported a pain in her arm and was hospitalized. No other injuries were reported."

Wonder how this occurred? From where I'm sitting, I'm not sure an injury from the electricity passing through the plane would be possible.

From walking around the cabin during turbulence.

Thunderstorms are caused in turbulent air. Lightning is caused by static buildup from that turbulent air, hence where there is lighting there is turbulence.

I was talking about that incident with the FA on my flight back from LAX last night. She'd never been working a flight that got struck - I've been self-loading-cargo on a couple of flights that got hit - one had a plasma ball roll down the aisle.... keept looking for this:

If she was touching a separate piece of metal on the hull (such as a door) it's possible to get a serious shock if the lightning struck that directly. Not very likely but possible. A better bet would be that she banged her arm in the associated turbulence or in reaction to the sound of the strike.

Not to mention "arm injury" looks so much better on a press release than "shat herself".. Coulda been spin doctored...

Didn't consider turbulence would have been the cause. The phrasing of the article caused me to read it like it was the electricity.
