The government has warned airlines that terrorists are considering surgically implanting explosives into people in an attempt to circumvent screening procedures, according to U.S. officials.

There is no indication of an immediate plot, but the new information could lead to additional screening procedures at the nation’s airports. Existing scanners would not necessarily detect bombs implanted under a person’s skin, experts said.

......

Existing scanners cannot detect certain explosive materials like PETN under the skin. They would have to rely on explosive trace detection swabs to detect bombs under the skin, and those are only conducted on a fraction of the passengers.
More invasive screening for a "consideration" ???

:mad2::mad2:

As long as we are "safe", that is all that counts. Any true American should be proud to submit themselves to our governments interrogations, body scanning, pat downs, or ups, depending how you look at it, invasive surgery, whatever they want to do, as long as we are safe from them there terrorists.

Makes one wonder just which ones are the terrorists, doesn't it?

They stole that from an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise.

On our way to required nudity aboard airplanes. Everyone gets naked, you look for recent scars. Reminds me of Heinlein's Puppet Masters.

Naaa... everybody just gets drugged, and loaded in on pallets - stretch wrapped. Airlines will love it!!

And then they will just find other ways to put it inside them not requiring surgery.

They'll just crank up the power on the strip-search machines. If you look at some of the pictures that have been released, you can see bones at the current power settings. Won't take much more to make it complete.

And just think of the timing...

This comes out right after people get worked up about the Nigerian with no boarding pass that gets right on a flight, then does it again a week later but the 95 year old woman is put thru hell by the idiots at TSA.

Hmmmm....

wouldn't be,

couldn't be all a make believe scare to get people off their tired little backs. Could it?

Sigh. Is this TSA BS only getting worse? Is something like this even possible to get better, being less invasive?

Gotta love the Onion, they are on the cutting edge!

Look at the date...November 2009...

Yeah, that one's still funny 'cuz it hasn't come true yet.

WAAAAAAAAAY too many of their headlines have been coming true in the last 10-15 years. Case in point: The front page headline in mid-December 2000 that read: "Bush: 'Our long national nightmare of peace and prosperity is finally over.'" :frown2: There's been plenty of others, too... But I like it when they stick to the funny stuff. Like, for example, during the last presidential election: "Black man asks nation for change."

And, back to aviation...

G-d help us if the terrorists ever bring down an airliner in our airspace again. Think about what would take place then. Whatever freedoms we as citizens may now think we have, well.....

I really think the TSA should take over security at all McDonald's restaurants. There have been two, or three incidents, over the past month and a couple of loud arguments. Surely the gov't wants us all secure and safe, right?

Then TSA can strip search everyone before they get in their cars, so that there is no chance someone will carry a weapon into their car.

But how can they possibly keep us safe from people who might use their car as a weapon?

Maybe the TSA should take over all driving chores, so that no one will be exposed to danger from drivers that might think about, possibly, maybe, kinda, using a car as a weapon.

But then there's pencils.

Pencils have been used to poke people for decades and the TSA hasn't even taken control of all pencil owners and potential pencil writers.

And then there's light bulbs. light bulbs have glass and could cut people so the TSA HAS to station agents inside every home, work place, school, store, gathering place, park, playground, and publicly lighted area to make sure no one uses light bulbs to hurt someone.

But then there's all those dangerous play toys. Especially plastic hammers and squirt gins.

People could use them to choke you, hit you, hi jack a nuclear aircraft carrier and all sorts of other, really angry things.

We won't be safe until the TSA strip searches every child, baby in a stroller with a plastic mobile to play with and makes sure there are no unauthorized toy.

Then we might get to be a little more safe.

And then they will just find other ways to put it inside them not requiring surgery.

Or with scars in places not easily visible without further exam.

TSA is nothing more than a small branch of our Federal Government. It is not TSA doing this, it is all of our Congressional Representatives, and our President. They are the ones who issue the orders to Homeland Security, who in turn issue them to the TSA.

We are placing the blame on the wrong people, it should be placed on Obama and our Congressperson. It is their idea, not TSA's idea. TSA, like those who defended themselves at Nuremberg, are simply following orders.

Every indignity that takes place at our airports come as a result from a direct order from our president, and our Congress. They tell them what to do, how much to pay their staffs.

You can't blame the dog for the poor manners of it's master.

Just think how hideous it will now be for breast cancer surgery patients to travel in the weeks and months after surgery. Esp. since those scars show in the strip-search machine & the TSA guidance is that one sign of surgically-imbedded explosiives is pain during pat-downs/frisks/gropes.

And yet someone can eat a bean burrito and still board a plane.:hairraise:

They even sell them at the airport.

The other day I had to laugh. Flew out of DCA, picked up a bottle snapple ice-tea. Wouldn't you know it, it came in one of the old fashioned glass bottles. Yeah, I have to put my leatherman tool into checked luggage but I can buy a handy glass-bobble to cut some flight-attendants throat right there in the airport. Idiots.

So if you can't afford a doctor; go to the airport: you'll get a free X-ray and breast exam. If you mention El Qaeda, they'll throw in a free colonoscopy <g>

Best,

Dave
