Something also apparently prompted them to swab for explosives, for <insert reason here>.

Must have been powder. They flag anything with powder including vitamins.

At least they allow powders. Turns out some countries don't allow over 300 grams of powder, including ground coffee. I was half tempted to demand they explain the McGuyver level plot to involving dark roast.

The only caveat is that you have to be a foreign national. Arrest warrants for US citizens won't be accepted.

ETA: The way I read the article, and I could be wrong, the front line TSA agent was tipped by another source… layers of security.

I watched a guy jump the gate in front of the tram to the terminal that requires a boarding pass, so I attempted to inform a TSA agent of what I saw, and they just kept yelling at me to get back in line and completely ignored me.

In the end the guy was just a moron that couldn't figure out how to scan his pass correctly, but a bad guy could pretend the same thing.... I guess with enough layers even the TSA can accomplish something good.

You can board with no id too. You'll just get an extended screening.
