Just had a very close encounter with former Sec. Ridge at the Orlando IAP.

I was in a long slow security line trying to get through TSA. A TSA guy walks up and signal 'please follow me' right in front of me but then ends his gesture by saying "Secretary Ridge".

I looked behind me and there was Tom Ridge. He declined to go through and special treatment, to his credit. I said go ahead but take me with you. We laughed and then he told me that he does not want to get those guys in trouble. That is fair. But I could not resist asking him why we still had some of the silly rules (shoes and liquids to be exact)and why the system is not getting better.

He replied with bureaucratic indifference that he felt it was better. Oh well.

I wonder what he was doing in Orlando?

But he did have to take his shoes off so I felt a little better.

Too bad the TSA hasn't set up the backside probes yet.

LOL - Maybe he was shooting a commercial -- "Sec. Ridge what are you going to do when you leave office? I'm going to Disney."

Now, Scott, you do realize that many of the rules are for "administrative convenience"....
