For those non-pilots a CATlll approach is a hands off, fully automated approach and landing.

We were just getting into this at Horizon/Alaska when I had to retire. At Horizon we would use it in our Dash-8's as it was cheaper to use and research in them than in the Alaska 737's at the time. We were the first to use the HUD system for Cat-III approaches in the Regional Airlines. I flew one of the first "Actual" approaches down to RVR-600 into SEA in a Dash-8. Wasn't expecting to do it that day, but all of a sudden there it was, and I had completed my training/line-check, and was off hi-mins. And then an hour later took off with RVR-300 while at least 20 planes were sitting on the taxiway waiting for Vis to go up to 600 RVR or 1/4 mile. Made for an interesting day.
I never flew an actual RNP approach, but practiced them several times in the Sim.
