Trojan virus

Maybe some of you computer gurus can help me. I stupidly opened an email from an unknown sender and immediately got a notice from my virus protection software that I was infected by the Trojan Virus and it was not able to delete or quarantine it. What can I do to get rid of it? I see no effects on my machine yet. Thanks!

Reboot computer into safe mode and then run a full virus scan.

To Reboot into Safe Mode:
- Power down computer
- Power up computer
- Tap the F8 key every 2 seconds until you get a message about what operating system you want to boot into.
- If you only have one choice - your current operating system, select it
- IF you have multiple choices, or after youselect your os, you should see an option to boot that operating system in safe mode with a number of secondary options.
- Choose "Safe Mode" - no networking, no command prompt

Once booted into windows, run your virus scan and wait.
