Trivia: more polydactyly in the U.S. than private pilots

The number of active private pilots in the U.S. is ~194,000 in a population of ~315,000,000, yielding 1 in ~1624.

(OK OK - I know it is silly and pointless and I need to get back to work! This is not intended to be a Friday Trivia thread!)

Hmmm. Polydactyly mutations are breathtakingly rare in human populations. Anyone ever known or seen a polydactylous individual? I have, but being in my biz that's pretty normal (just got done teaching a class on limb patterning).

Put another way, when I tell folks I'm a pilot they immediately tell me about a distant relative/friend/neighbor who is/was a pilot. Can't say the same for polydactyly.
 
Interesting stuff. Hey, by any chance does anyone here know where to find current pilot populations by rating? For instance, (x) number of instrument rated pilots and so forth...

Never knew it had a name. Mine was radial/preaxial. Being a pilot too makes me one in 2 million.
