Three people are dead following a plane crash near McCarthy on Monday, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Is that a "Tri" Pacer, or a tailwheel Pacer? I got some dual instruction in a tailwheel PA-22-150 some years back. A lot of fun landing on gravel bars up in the Susitna river (some ways northwest of McCarthy). But not a place I'd want to have to ball one up.

As that registration is on "hold" and is due to be purged, I wonder if the plane was a recent purchase. The pilot was ATP multi / commercial single rated, but I didn't seen any type ratings.
